BIOGRAPHY
Liisa Kanerva is a visual artist and architect from Finland, at present living and working in Norway. Her artistic practice covers several techniques from paintings and installations to architektons and architecture. However, the very base of her works is always drawing.
Liisa´s art works are figurative. Characters in them are animals, some kind of human-animal hybrids and buildings. One can say that for her buildings are also somehow living beings. Her works has been seen in galleries in Finland and abroad, in some art museums in Finland and in the mediaeval halls of the Turku Castle.
Liisa began her career as a visual artist in the 1970s. In the 1980s she got an architect degree in Finland and thereafter had post-graduate studies at the University of Florence. Later she has completed further studies on the ideas of Italian Renaissance architects in Rome and got PhD degree in the history of architecture in Finland. From the year 2000, besides her artistic work, she has worked as a free-lancer exhibition planner and architect for some museums and exhibitions in Finland.
