NATURAL PROBLEMS - NATURLIGE PROBLEMER - LONNOLLISIA ONGELMIA

During the recent times I, like many others, have often pondered the current environmental problems. It is difficult to find solutions because problems are often complicated and caused by many factors.  NATURLIGE PROBLEMER was my first exhibition in Norway. It was dealing with the difficulties to be a human faced with such problems.

Monien muiden tavoin olen viime vuosina miettinyt paljon ajankohtaisia ympäristöongelmia. Oikeita ratkaisuja ei ole helppoa löytää koska ongelmat ovat monimutkaisia ja vaikeita ymmärtää.   

Luonnollisia ongelmia käsittelee ihmisenä olemisen vaikeutta juuri sellaisissa tilanteissa.

   

In my drawings Problem 1  and Problem 2.  I show two unfortunately common ways to “solve” natural i.e. environmental problems: 

1) by moving them to some other place, in hope that the other people will take care of it. 

2) by hiding them  behind  beautiful but empty  promises or misleading speeches. 

Ongelmat 1 ja 2 esittävät kaksi valitettavan yleistä tapaa ”ratkaista” luonnollisia, eli esimerkiksi ympäristöongelmia.

1) siirtämällä ongelman ratkaisun joillekin toisille. 

2) kätkemällä ongelma kauniitten mutta tyhjien lupausten ja harhaanjohtavien puheitten taakse.

Nature can be seen in many ways: looking at the details as well as outlining large entities; by art as well as by mathematics. In the series Two Ways to Describe the Nature, I combined my animal drawings with the ancient astronomical geometry.  

Sarjassa Kaksi tapaa kuvata luontoa olen rinnastanut eläimiä esittäviä piirroksiani ja tähtitieteen kehitykseen liittyviä vanhoja geometrisia kuvauksia. Luonnon voi nähdä monin tavoin, yksityiskohtia katsoen, tai suuria kokonaisuuksia hahmotellen, sekä taiteen että matematiikan keinoin. 

The models for the animal drawings I have found from several zoos and natural history museums, Geometrical models of the movement of planets I found in library, from  The Almagest by Ptolemy (100 – 178 AD), De revolutionibus Orbis coelestium by Nicolaus Copernicus (1473–1543), and Harmonices mundi by Johannes  Kepler  (1571–1630). 

Eläinkuvieni mallit olen löytänyt eläintarhoista ja luonnon-historiallisista museoista. Tähtitieteen geometriset mallit, Ptolemaioksen (100–178)  Almagest, Nikolaus Kopernikuksen (1473–1543) De revolutionibus Orbis coelestium ja Johannes Keplerin (1571–1630) Harmonices mundi löytyivät kirjastoista.
